Just over the border in Suffolk, in Ilketshall, St. Andrew, about 3 miles south of the River Waveney lies a ghost…
A ghost pond that is!
Prior to restoration this was a small depression covered in fleabane, ragwort and rushes and surrounded by brambles. A twelve year old woodland is planted adjacent to it where turtle dove have been heard calling so we are hoping the pond will enhance the habitat for turtle doves.
We celebrate this work self-funded and undertaken by co-operative small-holding ‘Green Grow’ who combine fruit, vegetable and meat production with habitat management, education and community involvement for a fresh approach to local food.

Restoration took place in mid-November 2019, hoping to make the most of the heavy rains that we have been experiencing.
